Turkey must show ‘evidence not allegations’ against Gulen: U.S.

-

US Secretary of State John Kerry told Turkey on Monday it must produce evidence to support any extradition request for exiled Muslim cleric Fethullah Gulen over the failed coup attempt.

"I urged the foreign minister to make certain that in whatever portfolio and request they send us, they send us evidence, not allegations," Kerry told a press conference in Brussels.

"We need to see genuine evidence that withstands the standard of scrutiny that exists in many countries with respect to the system of extradition."
