Trucker steals 40,000 pounds of meat worth more than $100,000

State police said the incident happened at Nicholas Meat near Loganton.

Officers said a truck driver loaded $110,000 worth of meat into a trailer. The driver was doing this as a scheduled pickup and he was supposed to deliver the meat by the following Monday in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. However, the driver never showed.

A spokesman for Nicholas Meat said the driver was notified by the customer on Tuesday because he hadn’t delivered the food.

As police dug deeper, they found out the driver got the delivery contract after he used a fake ID. The company information on the truck was also fake.

The driver was described as being a white male of eastern European decent, and standing at around 5 feet, 10 inches and between 160-180 pounds with a beard and dark hair.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

Meat theft is a big problem. Recently, it was reported that the most shoplifted item on the market is fresh meat and that’s because meat prices have been rising for the last few years.
