Thieves cut hole in wall to steal tons of Best Buy gadgets

NBC reports that $65,000 worth of electronics were stolen, while the New York Post puts the dollar value at $75,000.

“That’s crazy, why would someone go to that extreme?” said shopper Colleen Yearwood.

A manager discovered the robbery at 6 a.m. Tuesday, when he noticed a gaping hole in the store wall and many shelves almost cleared of tablets, phones, cameras and more. The thieves apparently used a jackhammer to create the hole in the wall.

It’s currently unclear as to how the robbers escaped, though one theory had them using a boat parked in the inlet behind the store. The police have found that the theory doesn’t hold up, though they did notice a snipped chain-link fence in the alley leading up to the store, as well as “drag marks” on the concrete.

“That’s some Ocean’s 11 stuff that they’re doing,” said shopper Vincent Wood.
