James, 18, was arrested in Hemet and booked into West Valley Detention Center and charged with murder. She is being held on $1 million bail, records say, according to The San Bernardino County Sun.
James, of San Bernardino, allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, Dorian Powell, 21, during a fight at her home in the 2000 block of North Central Ave. on Jan.11, San Bernardino police reports say.
The young woman fled shortly after the fatal attack, but appeared to confess to the stabbing in a Facebook post, which states that Powell had hit her in the face and that she defended herself with a knife. “I love always love Dorian Brent tyrome powell,” said a later post to her account. Both posts have since been deleted.
Police declined commenting on the postings.
Around 2:35 a.m. Sunday, police received a call reporting that a person had been stabbed, and on arrival, officers found Powell, who suffered injuries consistent with a stabbing, The Independent reports. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities believe a domestic disturbance occurred inside the apartment.
When she fled, James allegedly published her confession on a Facebook page that belonged to Nakasia Macc James, The New York Daily News reports.
“Just goin tell ya nw be4 I get caught,” said the now-deleted post. “Last night my ex was drunk off ej && was fightn me, hit mee in the face and we was really fightn and I gt the knife and stabbed him ddnt think I would hurt him BT I did he died and I’m on the run pigs lookn for me.
“BT god knows I didn’t mean to stab him I was mad AF he socked me in my eyes and just picked sumthin up … BT sorryy lord hopefully u forgive me! And sorry Dorian Powell rip.”
Police continued to check the Facebook page and spotted the posts, ABC station KABC-TV reported.
Photos from the page were placed on wanted posters and in social media posts, the Daily News reports.
Apartment manager Melissa De Los Santos found bullet holes in the upstairs unit where the couple lived. She said she thinks they were in retaliation for Powell’s stabbing, KABC reports.
No one was injured by the gunfire, The San Bernardino Sun reports.
