According to ABC News, a man, described as irate and shouting, telephoned his local police force has to complain that his father had destroyed his cannabis plants. The incident arose after the two had been engaged in an argument over the younger man’s behavior. To teach his son “a lesson” the father allegedly set fire to the cannabis plants.
As a result of the complaint, police in Australia’ Northern Territory were called to the oddly-named town of Humpty Doo, which is situated south-east of Darwin. Humpty Doo has a population of 5,413. As to the strange name, one social media user called Cara DANGER PANTS (@andlehay) mocked: “You have to love Aussie. Not obvious whether ‘Humpty Doo man’ refers to location or is just a colourful insult.”
The police arrived at the property at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday July 12, 2016. In statement, duty Superintendent Louise Jorgensen indicated that no charges were laid at the time (and none are anticipated.) This is because, Face Palm states, any evidence of a drug stash, had it been present, had been destroyed. Jorgensen went on to say: “Things came to a head yesterday evening and the father allegedly threw all of his son’s cannabis plants onto the bonfire and completely destroyed them.”
She added further: “This enraged the son, he called us and told us everything basically.”
After searching the property, Sky News reported that the police watched as the son rapidly gathered up all his belongings and left the residence saying that he was going to stay with relatives.
In this bizarre case of domestic dispute, Superintendent Jorgensen was not overly sympathetic: “The evidence has been destroyed as has the son’s reputation… people don’t usually come forward to say their drug stash has been destroyed or stolen but there you go,” she added.
