Danniel Boon Morgan, 30, allegedly picked up the 15-year-old, who was willing to go with him, on Wednesday in Turlock, and then they fled south.
Investigators were able to quickly identify Morgan was the lone suspect in the abduction, and they sent out a warning that he could be armed, and he may have been planning to possibly take the teen to Mexico.
Morgan was located at a hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, and he was arrested. He is now facing felony kidnapping and sex charges. Following his arrest on Thursday, the city attorney in Kiowa said the officer was fired by the town board.
Apparently the teen knew who Morgan was, and she is safe. Police said that she will also be reunited with her family.
The Turlock Police Department thanked all of the police agencies that were involved in the 22-hour-long investigation. The department continued to say that the investigation resulted in a joyous and successful conclusion.
Event though the teen left with Morgan voluntarily, the case is being treated as abduction because of her age.
