Police brings drunk man home, snaps selfie with him

The man, called Reece, recalled his experience via a Facebook post. Reece originally posted that he was searching his phone when he noticed that a pair of police officers took him home. He finished the post by calling the police officers legends.

The incident took place this past Saturday, when Reece said he was at his local pub having a few drinks before heading out to a nightclub with his friends. He told BuzzFeed that after that, he doesn’t remember anything.

Reece apparently woke up the following morning thinking he got a taxi back home. However, the taxi company that he called ended up calling the local police and asked them for help.

Craig Fox, senior sergeant at the Northern District brand of the Tasmanian Police, said it’s not normal for police to drive drunk people back to their homes, but in this case they were looking for a place for safety for the man. He added that people should make a plan on how they will get home if they go out for drinks.

Fox added that police officers are always looking for a place of safety for those who are affected by alcohol. He said on this occasion the cab company requested assistance for getting the man home, so they decided to lend a hand.

Also, once the officers took the man home, they waited there until his friend arrived to look after him.
