Stanley Park is the most popular recreational area in the city and one of the first tourists destination place for those who come to Vancouver.
First, it was designed as military base and it was converted into a city park in 1887 with its official opening as park entity in Sept. 27, 1888.

It’s a strip of land encircled with water from three sides with its total area of 4.05 square kms. It took some 60 years to complete its 8.5 kms walkway that partly serves as a bike route around the park. Main attractions of the park are Vancouver Aquarium and spectacular collection of First Nations totem poles. It’s a transitional area between downtown Vancouver and the North Shore with North and West Vancouver that are linked with Vancouver over the Lions Gate Bridge.
