The company named it ‘Holiday Hole,’ and said they were going to dig for as long as people kept donating money. The dig finally concluded on Sunday.
Donations were dwindling leading up to Sunday. However, prior to that, the donations were rolling in. The company’s website says donations totaled $100,573, but they did not disclose the location where the hole was dug.
The majority of people donated $5 to the campaign. However, there were a number who donated over $1,000 for the cause. It’s also not clear if the money raised went towards renting equipment and labor or if there were funds leftover for them to use as they see fit. The company is expected to release an update about the event sometime in the near future.
Cards Against Humanity didn’t really want donors and watchers to respond in a particular way. They said the whole stunt isn’t supposed to have deep meaning or anything like that. They added that there’s a hole there and that’s life.
Not everyone was happy about the stunt. Some took to social media to talk about how the whole thing was a waste of money. A few people thought the money could have been spent on something charitable.
Holiday Hole is complete. They raised a total of $100,000. Humanity, and waste, saddens me.

On the company’s website, it does answer the question of “why aren’t you giving the money to charity?” The answer was why weren’t the ones donating giving their money to charity because it is their cash.
