The man announced that his girlfriend is pregnant, and the news was confirmed by the lead surgeon, Andre van der Merwe. The man’s girlfriend is about four months pregnant, which means she became pregnant about two months after the man received his surgery, which was back in December.
According to People Magazine, one of the most obvious questions that was asked after the transplant was performed was if the man was going to be able to have sexual contact and would he be able to have kids.
Merwe said that he was pleased to hear that the patient’s girlfriend was pregnant. He continued to say that he didn’t request a paternity test because there was no reason to not believe the couple.
The man’s surgery took place at Stellenbosch University and Tygerberg, and the operation took around nine-hours to complete.
Merwe said that this is what they intended , that he should be able to urinate, stand up and have intercourse. He added that this is a milestone for him. He also said that he did not expect the man to be infertile, and this is because he had an issue with his penis.
The man was left with only part of his original penis, which was a result of a circumcision gone wrong.
