Back when there was an actual form of US national security, when there were stars, not scars, on the US flag, things were different. There was a degree of remove between power and sleaze. This was back when absolute Fools Of The First Magnitude had no credibility, and Important People actually were important, not just sycophantic scumbags.
Associating with the wrong people was usually and rightly fatal to careers and reputations. You could be compromised for a minor financial indiscretion. The big names were supposed to be wary and very risk averse. It was axiomatic that everything, including sex, infidelity, and corruption, was done at arm’s length.
Any degree of access to these important people was closely monitored during the Cold War, because the Russians had a habit of finding their way into sensitive security areas. And they did, regularly.
They were also considered astute, intelligent, and even role models worthy of genuine respect.
Well, they’ve definitely solved that problem.
These scars have names.
Now, in this Blessed Year of Total Failure at the most basic levels, we have an actual scenario. We have the absolute top names in business, politics, and Big Tech associated with arguably one of the most truly nauseating groups in modern history. A more appalling collection of absolute fools would be hard to define.
Happy?
Mildly enthusiastic?
Feeling queasy for some reason?
Even that’s not the problem. The problem is that “national security” apparently now relates to what the public can see, not actual security risks. Idiots in large numbers tend to naturally form business relationships. A rotting, diseased gathering of bozos so obviously much dumber than their genitals would have a lot to talk about. This is motormouth land, where nobody ever shuts up. Lots of business to do, in fact.
Add the celebrity status and egos of these guys, and it must have been insufferable.
Does that sound secure to you?
Things to note about this situation:
Big Tech is inseparable from national security and just about all areas of the economy and technologies of all kinds, from defense to infrastructure, communications, and core economics.
Big business is all about finance at any level, from Main Street to some rickety skyscraper in New York, and global trade.
Politics is about politics and nothing else. Doing favors for your sleazy little friends is normal. Political relationships are always transactional on some level.

What kinds of information could these dainty little Epstein gatherings have been spreading about, apart from a fine selection of the folksier diseases? All you need to do is be duly worshipful, and the information will be there.
Could such a gathering of big names go unnoticed, even by not-overly-brilliant intelligence agencies and information brokers? Would all these contacts be worth something to someone?
Who was listening?
In this case, it’s usually the nonentities who need watching. The people you wouldn’t begin to notice in such a stellar gathering of self-obsessed idiots. The people who could come and go unquestioned. Tack them onto any entourage, and they fit right in.
There’s a difference between treason and stupidity. It’s not much of a difference. Either way, they’re a liability, and they’re both usually dangerous.
The questions need asking:
Was there or is there any scrutiny of the Epstein crowd?
Did any market, technological, or financial transactions stem from the Epstein group?
If so, what, when, and where?
Are there any links to foreign intelligence?
Who else had access to this Mensa of Morons?
Hard to believe it could be so much worse, but it probably is.
Post Script: I must apologize for such a broad brush picture of the issues, but the sheer scope of possible security risks is almost unquantifiable.
