The man, Russell Joseph Meyers, 54, accidentally left a graphic voicemail to the person he called. The person contacted authorities after they heard the voicemail.
Meyers is accused of having intercourse with his dog, a German Shepherd, on four occasions. Police also found him in possession of weed.
Franklin County Sheriff, Shannon Oliver, said that Meyers admitted to having sex with his dog. He is now facing four counts of bestiality, as well as one count of second-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Oliver said that it was obvious that there was a condition there, and no matter how you look at it, it’s just not normal.
Meyers is going to be the second person charged under Alabama’s new, tougher bestiality law. If Meyers is convicted, then he will have to register as a sex offender. Under the state law, bestiality is a Class A misdemeanor.
The first person that was charged under the new law was 39-year-old Jonathan Medley, who allegedly had sex with a Shih Tzu.
Meyers also owns a Chihuahua, but police say that he only had sex with the German Shepherd.
