On December 29, Joseph Talbot was arrested in Wayne County. State police charged Talbot with driving while intoxicated. He was also charged with refusing to be fingerprinted or photographed. Officials said Talbot told cops that he didn’t want his mugshot in the newspaper.
The Times of Wayne County said it obtained Talbot’s mugshot from the county jail. It said it printed his mugshot and a story on New Year’s Eve. It added that the story and the mugshot was published online.
Ron Holdraker, the owner of the newspaper, which has 12,000 in circulation, said Talbot bought around 1,000 copies of the newspaper. This means Talbot spent around $1,200 on the papers.
After Talbot went on the buying spree, the newspaper simply restocked the paper. According to the Wayne Times, the police explained to Talbot that he would make the story an even bigger one if he refused to have his mugshot taken. He was arraigned and was placed in jail on a $750 cash/$1,500 bond to reappear in court on February 1st.
