Former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee told supporters on Tuesday the House and Senate versions of the stimulus package are “anti-religious.” He referred to the bills banning higher education funds from being used on a “school or department of divinity.”
Mike Huckabee is making news again for speaking out against the stimulus package that recently passed a Senate vote. The former Arkansas governor told supporters in an email: “The dust is settling on the ‘bipartisan’ stimulus bill and one thing is clear: It is anti-religious.”
He went on to attack the makers of the House and Senate versions of the bills: “You would think the ACLU drafted this bill. For all of the talk about bipartisanship, this Congress is blatantly liberal.”
His main contention centered on a provision in both the House and Senate versions banning higher education funds in the bill from being used on a “school or department of divinity.”
Huckabee is no stranger to criticizing the bill. He has previously been quoted as saying: “This stimulus bill is full of pork and does little to add real jobs and spend real money on infrastructure projects that would create jobs. In other words, a real stink bomb.”
