Germany’s Lufthansa pilots back strike action

-

Pilots at German flag carrier Lufthansa have voted overwhelmingly for strike action in a dispute over pay and conditions, a union said Friday.

No date has yet been announced for the stoppage which won more than 95 percent approval in a vote, the pilots' union Cockpit said.

Strikes will be announced at least 48 hours in advance, Ilona Ritter of the union said, adding however that stoppages over Easter were not planned.

As well as salary increases, the union is also demanding improved conditions for pilots at the end of their careers.
