Kouachi brothers, Coulibaly, killed
The Kouachi brothers, Said and Cherif, were killed when they ran out, firing their weapons, from a print shop they holed up in in the small town of Dammartin-en-Goele, northeast of Paris. They were shot multiple times by police, dead. Not long afterwards the police stormed the supermarket and killed the terrorist there, Amedi Coulibaly.
No security forces were killed in either operation and while four innocent citizens inside the market died, officials have told media they were killed by Coulibaly when he stormed his way into the market. There were 15 others inside who were taken hostage and they all survived the incident.
Weapons of Paris terrorists
The attackers were loaded with weapons. During a press conference Friday after the gunfights, the chief prosecutor of Paris, Francois Molins detailed some of the weapons that the three collectively had at their disposal.
“A M82 rocket launcher with a loaded rocket,” he began. “I insist on this, a loaded rocket. Ten smoke grenades, two Kalashnikov machine guns and two automatic pistols were discovered.”
He added that the “bomb-disposal specialists even found a grenade on the body of one of the terrorists, which had been placed as a trap.”
Phone records reveal connection
Molins said that at the market in Paris, Coulibaly had a Kalashnikov assault rifle – the type of weapon the brothers used in their attack at Charlie Hebdo – and a military pistol; he used both to fire at police, without hitting them. He also had in the market two machine guns, two Russian-made Tokarev pistols, plenty of ammo and a bullet-proof vest.
At last report, Coulibaly’s wife, considered armed and and dangerous, is still at large. A report said she may have escaped the market during the chaos that ensued there. Molins said that they have already examined phone records and found revealing information.
“It appears from the investigation, especially from the exploitation of the phone-tappings, that Cherif Kouachi’s spouse had called more than 500 times to Amedy Coulibaly’s partner, Hayat Boumeddiene, which shows permanent and strong links between the two couples,” Molins said.
It is not known what kind of weapons Boumeddiene, the most wanted woman in France, has in her possession.
