Florida man finds a wallet with $3,400 inside and decides to….

Wallet full of cash

It happened in Palm Coast when Kevin Miller, 27, found a wallet with $3,400 in it. Mr. Miller found the wallet August 5 in the parking lot of a local shopping mall. It was lying on the ground and he noticed two teenagers eyeing it up.

So Miller, from nearby Daytona North, removed their temptation by picking it up. He was surprised to find such a large amount of money inside, along with credit cards etc., but while he acknowledged he could have used the loot, the lure of keeping it was not strong.

“I believe that God put me there at the right time to do the right thing because, trust me, I could’ve used that money. I can promise you that,” Miller told The Daytona Beach News-Journal. “I’ve never found that kind of money before.”

He said he knew that the person who lost their wallet would need the money and knew what the “right thing to do” was. Miller quickly called the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office who tracked down the owner.

Help making decision

His having risen up against any sea of temptation was a much-needed outcome for that owner of the wallet, an Orlando mother. She lost it visiting a beach in the area and felt sick about what she’d accidentally done. The unidentified woman had begun a search but had little idea where she may have dropped it.

The local sheriff put Miller’s name up for an award that would acknowledge his virtuous act. For his part, Miller said he didn’t take long to decide his course of action and that he had help in doing the right thing.

“I believe in doing the right thing. I didn’t do it to get nominated for any types of awards,” Miller said. “I just did it because it’s the right thing to do and because I know that God works in mysterious ways.”
