The man, Joshua Lynam, 24, of Milton, was cruising along in his pickup truck when he pulled up being a police officer from the Escambia County Sheriff’s Office. Lynam’s truck was equipped with red and white lights, while the deputy’s vehicle was unmarked.
Lynam decided to turn on the emergency lights, and when the deputy noticed this, he pulled off to the side of the road. Sgt. Andrew Hobbs said that Lynam pretty much did a traffic stop.
When Lynam approached the deputy, the deputy asked Lynam to produce his identification. However, Lynam couldn’t present any identification because he wasn’t a real cop. As a result of posing as a cop, he was placed under arrest. Lynam was taken to the Escambia County Jail on a $1,000 bond, but he was eventually released. As of now, it is not known when Lynam will go to court to face his charge of posing as a law enforcement officer.
This isn’t the first time Lynam has had issues with law enforcement. Back in 2013, police arrested Lynam after he threatened to beat an officer with a video game controller if the officer turned off Lynam’s computer.
The officer was performing a welfare check after it was reported that Lynam was threatening to kill himself.
