Did the TV show Dexter drive Indiana teen to kill his brother?

On Nov. 28 last year, Andrew Conley, 18, suffocated his 10-year-old brother in their home, later admitting he wanted to kill his father as well. The teen has plead guilty to murder without any plea deal.

In court today, Conley’s ex-girlfriend remarked he told her he wanted to be like the serial killer in the TV show Dexter, played by Michael C. Hall. According to the Associated Press, prosecutors also played jail surveillance video in which “Conley discussed a new episode of the Showtime series Dexter with a visitor a few weeks after Conner Conley’s November death.”

On Tuesday Conley also read a statement in which he apologized killing his brother and didn’t understand why he committed the act.

A forensic psychologist from Indianapolis said Conley understood that what he was doing was wrong, as Fox41.com reports. “In the videos, Conley repeatedly refers to himself as a ‘monster’ and says he deserves whatever punishment he gets.”
