A boy with behavioural problems threatened his teachers and students when he became enraged and starting throwing around chairs at his Glennon Heights Elementary School in Lakewood, Colorado. He also brandished a sharp piece of wood he held like a knife.
After teachers barricaded themselves in a room away from Aidan Elliot, police were called in. They then pepper-sprayed the boy and took away his weapon. Lakewood Police Officer Steve Davis told ABC News that when they arrived on the scene the boy told them, “I will kill you mother effers,” Davis said.
The boy’s mother is upset at police for what she calls inappropriate action. She is filing a complaint against the police for pepper spraying her son, and said, “I think they should have approached him, tried to talk to him, even if it was from a distance. You talk to him and you find out what it is that’s botherhing him as well. You don’t just walk in, ask him to stop and then spray.”
Aidan, however, said he “kind of” deserved being pepper-sprayed and he said, according to the NY Daily News, “I got like anger things. It’s just who I am. I think it’s not ever going to go away.”
The boy has since transferred to another school, the Huffington Post reports.
