CNN: Ron Paul to run for U.S. president

Paul is expected to throw his hat in the electoral ring on Friday, CNN says. CNN goes on to say, “Paul will hold a morning campaign event in Exeter, New Hampshire where he is expected to receive several endorsements.”

Paul is vying for the White House for the third time. He ran as a Libertarian Party nominee in 1988. In 2008, he sought the GOP nomination.

Politico reports Paul has been making overtures for a GOP bid recently. The political blog writes, ” He also recently raked in more than $1 million during a one-day online ‘money bomb’ ahead of the first GOP presidential debate.”

The Hill writes more than two weeks ago, Paul visited Iowa to announce he had created an exploratory committee.

A previous report on DigitalJournal.com found a recently released poll showed Paul would fare best in a head-to-head electoral battle against Obama. But the poll’s author added, “No GOP candidate has a statistically significant lead, so it’s way too soon to start talking about front-runners.”
