Clinton says she’s in good health, denies Trump remarks

Clinton campaigning hard

Her response to David Muir of ABC included the quote that she and her campaign team came out of Democratic convention in Philadelphia at the end of July “with an enormous amount of energy and enthusiasm” and that they are campaigning hard, and will continue to.

Also on the show was her V.P candidate, Senator Tim Kaine, who called the Trump notion of Clinton not having the health or energy to be president “idiotic.” He added that he’s only been on the Democratic ticket a relatively short time but that “this great public servant (Clinton) has been on the field for 17 or 18 months and it’s hard to keep up with her.”

Clinton, 68, noted that her health records, like her tax records, have been released and are extensive and show her to be in excellent health. Not only has Trump, who is 70, not released his tax records, she noted his physician, Dr. Harold Bornstein, told NBC News that he wrote the disclosure on Trump’s health in mere minutes without having first examined him.

“We now have the doctor who signed his letter basically saying he did it in five minutes, because the ‘limousine was waiting,'” she said. “It is devoid of information.”

Unsubstantiated claims

Trump and surrogates, including Rudy Giuliani, former mayor of New York, along with Sean Hannity and the more partisan at Fox News, have for a long while now claimed Clinton has health problems. Days ago Trump added the notion of “stamina” to the mix, tweeting that she lacks both strength and stamina.

Along with the billionaire, Hannity has worked hard to sow Clinton health doubts, but some would say laughably so. New York Times columnist Jim Rutenberg reported Hannity “showed a video of a supposed possible (Clinton) seizure that was in fact a comical gesture Mrs. Clinton was making to reporters, as one of them, the Associated Press’s Lisa Lerer, reported.”

Rutenberg also reported on conservative media outlets that claimed that a member of the Clinton security team was carrying a diazepam syringe “for patients who experience recurrent seizures.” Secret Service spokeswoman Nicole Mainor revealed that it was not a syringe but a “small flashlight.”

Last January in the town of Clinton, Iowa, a woman stood at a Clinton rally to say she’d heard on Fox News Clinton was so unhealthy she “was really not equipped to be in the White House.” Clinton’s response included an assurance that she was healthy and that the woman might consider the source.

“Oh my. Well, you know, they say nearly anything about me. I’ve got to tell you,” she said, with a roll of her eyes. “There are several themes they keep beating the drums on.

“I’ll match my endurance against anybody.”
