Chatting with Kim Russo: The ‘Happy Medium’ on Long Island (Includes interview)

“At this current time, I completed eight episodes of my show, and they have not aired yet. The network is looking to find a good time slot and a good time of the year to air the remaining eight episodes. They are still making a decision,” she said.

When asked about the origin of her nickname, “The Happy Medium,” she said, “I had lunch with a friend and I happened to say to her that ‘I guess we just can’t find a happy medium,’ so we laughed and we chuckled. Then, my husband also said it one other time. Everything in life is about balance and finding a happy medium. It was a catchphrase and it kind of stuck with me. It doesn’t mean that I’m happy all the time, but I do try to be happy.”

Her plans for the future are to continue writing more books, and she already knows what their topics will be about. “I would love to continue to have a platform on television to spread the word of love, and to spread the word of consciousness, in that it does not die, and it only changes form. I am doing a lot of live events around the country so that I can meet people and demonstrate spirit communication.”

Each day, Russo is motivated by “faith” and the fact that she is here for a reason. “I definitely want to leave some sort of legacy. I know that’s why I came here, I know why I came, and I get motivated to fulfill my mission. If I can help one soul a day, then I am happy,” she said.

She shared that she has a wonderful husband, who helps keep her grounded, and plays a big role in helping her balance her life. “It is about staying humble, and never being too important to do the smaller things in life that keep us human,” she said.

Looking back over the last decade, Russo acknowledged that it has been an “amazing adventure.” “I look at life as an adventure, as well as a learning and growing experience. I wouldn’t change any of it for the world. Not one minute of it,” she said.

In 2015, Russo was crowned the winner of “Best Psychic” title in the Best of Long Island Press. “I was overwhelmed, shocked and I couldn’t believe it, especially out of all the great mediums and psychics on Long Island. I didn’t even know I was nominated, so to hear that I won was a huge honor. I was very grateful. That was a great surprise,” she said.

For Russo, social media plays a major role in staying connected with her fans and followers. “I stay connected with them through social media and e-mail. I try to e-mail as many people back as I can,” she said.

She defined the word success as “Touching one’s heart.”
