Bernie Sanders and others introduce the ‘College For All’ act

The ‘College for All’ act is aimed at making college affordable for more Americans. The Congress members announced the bill on Monday, but they will officially introduce it to the House of Representatives on Wednesday.

As part of the proposed act, students who come from families earning less than $125K per year will have access to free public tuition.

The College for All act would eliminate tuition at four year universities, while community college would be tuition-free. Sanders said their job is to bring forward a progressive agenda. He added that they could win the fight if millions of Americans demanded the legislation.

The proposed legislation is aggressive in contrast to President Donald Trump’s campaign plans relating to student loan reform, which involves forcing borrowers to pay more, but exit the system sooner based on a 15-year forgiveness proposal. However, as of now Trump has not proposed anything to Congress.

Sanders said education is not a privilege, but it is a right. He added that a revolution is needed in a way that the United States funds higher education.

The Vermont senator, who attempted to become the Democrat presidential nominee, has been busy cementing his foot in the Democratic Party under Trump. He is party’s head of outreach, which makes him the first independent to hold that title.
