CHICAGO – Customers using BlackBerry Wireless Handhelds can now do more with their e-mail. Xerox Corporation and Research In Motion Limited have a solution that couples Xerox mDoc 3.0 software with BlackBerry wireless e-mail features to give users access to documents residing on an enterprise server, including the ability to personalize e-mail attachments such as forms and contracts. The solution also allows users to e-mail, fax or print these documents on the go.
Xerox and RIM will demonstrate the solution at Comdex Spring in Chicago this week, showing visitors how the products bring mobile applications to the next level.
For example, sales representatives on the road can access critical documents such as contracts and invoices, personalize them with specific customer information, and then print the documents, dramatically improving their response time and strengthening customer relationships.
“The combination of our BlackBerry wireless solution with Xerox’s mDoc 3.0 applications enables mobile professionals to access important information and documents when and where they need it most,” said Mark Guibert, vice president, brand management at Research In Motion. “This productivity solution from Xerox and RIM demonstrates the extensibility of the BlackBerry architecture for wireless enterprise applications.”
The mDoc/BlackBerry solution already is successfully being used by about 200 Xerox office solutions sales specialists in North America, with more to come. For example, each specialist can use the BlackBerry handheld to access and deliver sales and marketing collaterals, as well as specific customer documents therefore improving responsiveness with customers.
“This relationship between Xerox and RIM represents Xerox’s commitment to improve the technology available to the mobile workforce,” said Gil Hatch, president, Office Systems Group. “Xerox’s own team is already able to increase response times and boost sales productivity.”
The mDoc 3.0 software is immediately available through Xerox’s direct sales force. In addition to fax and printing support, mDoc 3.0’s other enhancements include ability to view text of e-mail attachments, access corporate documents from additional document repositories and utilize customizable forms.
