Windows 10 for Phones update fixes some major issues

Writing on the Windows blog, Gabe Aul details all the changes in the new build. The preview can now be downloaded on the Nokia Lumia 520 again after it was pulled last week to fix a major issue involving devices being bricked when rolling back to Windows Phone 8.1.
The update should be seeded to all Windows Insiders on the “fast” track by now and be ready to download. It should that be noted that there aren’t any new features in this release.
The patches included fix many of the most serious annoyances in build 10051, released 12 days ago now. Flight mode can now be enabled again and the option to disable data connections is ready for use once more.
Additionally, the Camera app has seen some attention to remedy an issue where the viewfinder would be incorrectly displayed on some Lumia devices, including the camera-orientated 1020. Linguists will be pleased to note that the issue whereby additional keyboard languages could not be downloaded has also been fixed.
The update will be a welcome addition to Windows 10 for Phones and may encourage more people to download the preview onto their Lumia device. Many — myself included — have refrained thus far, having been put off by issues like the inability to disable mobile data connections.
If you are considering putting Windows 10 on your Lumia device, let us know in the comments below. Personally, I may put the build onto my new Lumia 530 I’m getting in a couple of days but it is staying off my primary Lumia 1520 until the general stability is improved. I’ll be publishing much more coverage of Windows 10 and Windows 10 for Phones in the next few weeks as we get closer to the launch of Microsoft’s re-designed modern operating system.
