Access to timely and accurate medical care remains a challenge in many rural and remote communities across Canada. Alethea Medical, a health technology company, developed an artificial intelligence tool to help frontline healthcare providers make faster and more confident decisions.

With their eConsult platform, Alethea is cutting wait times from months to just one day, and transforming the way physicians deliver care.

At the heart of Alethea’s platform is a suite of AI-enhanced tools designed to supercharge primary care decision-making. One standout is a proprietary ear diagnostic tool that they say has a 93% accuracy rate, helping physicians make faster, better-informed decisions without the need for in-person referrals.

But the innovation goes beyond diagnostics. Alethea’s secure digital infrastructure streamlines triage, enables real-time collaboration, and optimizes how family physicians connect with specialists — leading to fewer unnecessary visits, more efficient care, and a significantly lower burden on the healthcare system.

Alethea didn’t build technology in a vacuum. From day one, physicians and specialists were at the table — shaping features, testing workflows, and guiding real-world integration. The result? A solution that over 1,700 physicians and specialists trust and use, seamlessly fitting into their day-to-day practice.

The biggest bottleneck in accessing specialist care isn’t availability. It’s the outdated systems still used to refer patients. Alethea says that more than 50% of cases are resolved virtually, avoiding the need for in-person visits altogether.

Alethea Medical is a platform, but they aim to also be a movement toward smarter, faster, and more equitable healthcare. For physicians, it means less admin and more time for patients. For specialists, more meaningful case selection. And for patients, quicker answers and better care.

As healthcare continues to expand, one thing is clear: the future of healthcare isn’t months away — it’s already here.
