Toronto is hosting a conference on Big Data and analytics

This conference, happening now, is centred on education, networking and product demos — with a focus on predictive analytics, advanced machine learning, data governance, privacy, cybersecurity, Smart Home & IoT, digital transformation, Hadoop, cloud analytics and cloud computing.

This year the conference is being held at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre and has coincided with the AI Toronto Conference, happening at the same venue.

The Big Data Conference is expecting over 4,000 attendees. Of the over 100 speakers giving talks, attendees can expect to hear from names like Luis Bitencourt-Emilio, the Principal Director of Engineering for the Reddit Intelligence Group; Matthew Fritz, the Director of Data Science for Samsung; Leon Katsnelson, the Director and CTO of Emerging Technologies for the IBM Analytics Platform; Suzanne L Morin, the Enterprise Chief Privacy Officer for ‎Sun Life Financial; Carole Piovesan, an AI lawyer with McCarthy Tétrault LLP and so many more.

Some of the topics of discussion include data protection and the GDPR, how Big Data has a future in the discovery of gold, robotics in retail, digitizing the wave of dark data, deep learning for autonomous vehicles, future cities, algorithm ethics, and building an AI startup in Canada.

Data scientists and other interested parties can take part in technical sessions on the aforementioned topics and, in partnership with the AI Toronto Conference, an AI startup battle will take place, where startups working with AI are showcased.
