Digital Journal is excited to welcome Terry Rock, President and CEO of Platform Calgary, as the newest member of its editorial advisory committee.

The committee, recently announced with Kamales Lardi as its inaugural Chair, is designed to help Digital Journal ground its coverage in real-world insight. Each member brings a unique perspective on how leadership, policy, technology and talent intersect in practice, especially in regions shaping new growth stories.

Rock’s appointment comes as Western Canada’s innovation sector continues to gain global recognition.

Digital Journal has reported on how Calgary’s startup momentum is drawing international attention even during economic uncertainty; how Calgary’s innovation strategy aims to drive resilience and twenty-eight billion dollars in growth; and how Terry Rock and Tom Viinikka are working together to reshape Alberta’s innovation future

These stories reflect the practical, founder-focused approach that Rock brings to this new role.

Working at the intersection of economic development, community building and startup support, Rock offers a systems-level view of what it takes for founders, investors and communities to build thriving ecosystems.

At Platform Calgary, he focuses on connecting founders with the capital, programs and partnerships that help companies scale. He is also active across Western Canada and beyond, supporting collaboration between cities and contributing to policy conversations that open more doors for entrepreneurs.

“I am honoured to join Digital Journal’s editorial advisory council,” says Rock. “I look forward to bringing the unique perspective of how dedicated support for founders and robust startup infrastructure are driving significant economic growth and diversification within tech ecosystems globally. I am excited to share insights on how we can continue to empower entrepreneurs and accelerate the success of innovative businesses worldwide.”

By sharing what he is seeing on the ground, Rock will help Digital Journal’s coverage stay connected to the realities founders face. His perspective will help surface ideas that strengthen entire ecosystems and bring more practical insight to leaders and decision-makers.

“Terry’s leadership shows what collaborative, ecosystem-level thinking looks like,” says Chris Hogg, CEO of Digital Journal. “He understands what it takes for founders to grow, but just as importantly, he knows that no startup succeeds in isolation. He has helped build connections across Western Canada’s growing innovation communities and keeps that perspective rooted in what early-stage companies actually need. That makes him an invaluable voice at our table.”

More members will be announced soon, each bringing fresh insight to help Digital Journal surface the questions, ideas and people shaping the economy’s next chapter.
