TechCrunch reports the Strings app allows users to permanently delete unwanted text messages from mobile devices.
“What happens on Stings stays on Strings,” promises a blog post on the app’s website.
“We believe you deserve a way to spontaneously and fearlessly share your most intimate moments and personal thoughts from your smartphone. So we developed Strings.”
“With Strings, you can say whatever you want, share any video or photograph you want, to whomever you want. And take it back if you want. And your friend, relative, workmate or partner cannot share it with anyone else. Unless you want them to.”
Tech Times reports Strings lets users control when others download photos or videos by requiring them to obtain permission before downloading content. The app works with text messages, emails, photos and unlimited length videos.
But there’s a catch. In order to unsend texts, all involved parties must have installed the app on their devices too.
Strings was created by Be Labs, a Seattle-based startup whose founders, Edward Balassanian and Damon Ganem, said they were “frustrated with the state of today’s personal communication options.”
The app is currently only available on iOS devices.
