Stop The Bad Gift Madness!

NEW YORK (djc)- We’ve all received some bizarre gifts that were not quite right. So, this year, instead of re-gifting last year’s presents to unsuspecting teachers, doormen or babysitters, CELEBRATIONS Chocolates is providing shoppers with the opportunity to trade in their bad gifts.

Everything from rhinestone encrusted wall clocks and pineapple-cinnamon scented candles to gold lame toaster cozies and macramé dish towels will be welcome at “The Bad Gift Road Show” at Greeley Square Park in Manhattan on Friday, November 24, 2000 from 11a.m. to 1 p.m., to be viewed and judged. Who will have the worst gift?

Judging the “not so perfect” gifts will be actress Vicki Lewis from NBC’s News Radio and the upcoming NBC sitcom, Three Sisters. Lewis will serve as the host for the event and also select the most outrageous gift.

“The Bad Gift Road Show” will be held on the day after Thanksgiving, traditionally the biggest shopping day of the year, and will take place diagonally across the street from Macy’s Herald Square (West 34th Street and Sixth Avenue) at Greeley Square Park. This outlandish spectacle will put a crazy twist on the typical shopping day, offering the weary shopper both entertainment and a great gift idea.

In return for their bad gift exchanges all participants will receive CELEBRATIONS Chocolates, The Perfect Little Gift, featuring a festive collection of bite sized versions of everyone’s favorite chocolate candies: DOVE, 3 MUSKETEERS, SNICKERS, MILKYWAY and TWIX. Plus, the winner of the tackiest zaniest gift will receive a credit card good for a $2,000 holiday shopping spree.

A recent casual gift giving survey conducted by CELEBRATIONS proved that over 70% of women have admitted to “faking” a positive response when receiving a gift. Yet, 84% of them have “never faked it” when receiving chocolate. As host of the “Bad Gift Road Show”, CELEBRATIONS encourages thoughtful gift giving this season by providing shoppers with an inexpensive, yet sure to be appreciated present for everyone.
