Spotify launches on the Xbox One

Microsoft and Spotify confirmed the immediate availability of the app earlier today. The two companies said they have “been listening” to the feedback from players. Close to four years after the Xbox One launched, the most popular music streaming service is now available to download.
Spotify’s app offers access to its full catalogue of over 30 million songs. It also includes a special selection of curated “Gaming” playlists for background listening during long play sessions. Alternatively, you can choose to play an album or playlist from your existing saved collection.
You can browse the available tracks using an Xbox controller. The app also supports Spotify Connect though, letting you control playback wirelessly from a phone, PC or tablet. The app is open to all Spotify users, whether you have a free or Premium subscription.

Spotify’s launch on Xbox One means the music streaming service is now available on both major games consoles. It allows the Xbox One to be used as a viable media centre for existing Spotify subscribers. Although Microsoft would rather players use its own Groove platform, the company has collaborated with Spotify to ensure the app offers the best possible experience.
“At Spotify, we believe that the right music can make every moment special, wherever and whenever you are,” Spotify said. “For some time now, Xbox gamers have been telling us that they’d like to be able to soundtrack their own gaming sessions using Spotify, to make every single session feel new and unique.”
The Spotify app is available now on the Xbox One in 34 markets worldwide. To download the app, open the Xbox Store and search for the “Spotify Music” app. You then need to log in to your account and start playing your music. The launch is Spotify’s second recent release to Microsoft’s ecosystem, having brought its main desktop app to the Windows Store earlier this year.
