NEW YORK – A grand jury indicted Robert Iler of HBO’s “The Sopranos” on charges that he and two teen-agers robbed two other teen-age boys of $40 on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.
An indictment announced Friday by Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau charges the teens with second-degree robbery. If convicted, they face up to 15 years in prison. Sixteen-year-old Iler also was faces a possible $100 fine for marijuana possession.
Iler, who plays Anthony “A.J.” Soprano, the pot-smoking, mischievous son of Tony Soprano on the mob drama — was arrested last month along with 19-year-old Michael Cournede and 16-year-old Alban Selimaj.
Prosecutors allege that Cournede was armed with a box cutter. All three defendants pleaded innocent. Iler is free on $2,500 bail. No arraignment date was set.
