Egypt’s health ministry says it has discovered a second suspected human case of bird flu.
The health ministry said Sunday a young man has been hospitalized since Thursday after suffering symptoms of the disease. It said he kept a chicken farm and that a number of them had died last Monday.
The report followed the death Friday of a woman believed to have contracted the H5N1 strain of the virus.
Egypt last month announced the discovery of bird flu in the country.
Bird flu has spread across parts of Europe, Africa and Asia, killing about 100 people since 2003. Health officials have warned it could evolve into a virus that can be easily transmitted between humans and create a global pandemic.
