Samsung says the Galaxy Note 8 will ‘do bigger things’

Samsung announced its annual Unpacked event for August 23rd last month. The company has already promised to unveil “the ultimate multitasking device” in a press invitation. It includes a video showing an outline of the Note’s distinctive S Pen stylus.
Samsung attempted to ramp up the excitement today, releasing a statement that makes some bold claims about the new device. Not content to concede defeat after last year’s disaster, the company is readying a brand resurgence for the Note line.
According to Samsung, the phone will be a device built to “achieve big things.” In a marketing message that seems to pick up where the Note 7 left off, Samsung presented the upcoming handset as a companion that helps you progress and “unleash your potential.” As before, the company published another video that puts the S Pen centre stage.
“At Samsung, we believe thinking that you can’t is the greatest barrier to progress, so with each new device and service, we aim to find ways to help you unleash your potential, using bigger platforms for creative expression, bigger tools to capture precious moments, and bigger innovations to help bring your ideas to life,” said Samsung. “Don’t settle for little things. Dare to do big things with a powerful new device built to achieve exactly that.”

Leaked photos of the Note 8 have revealed Samsung’s preparing a new design for the Note family. It aligns the phablet with the look of the company’s current S8 flagship, featuring slim bezels, no physical home button and a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. Respected leaker Evan Blass has released images that suggest the Note 8 will be wider than the S8 with even thinner bezels, affirming its status as Samsung’s range-topping handset.
Screen size is currently unconfirmed but expected to lie towards 6.3-inches. This will give it one of the largest displays available but shouldn’t lead to any significant increase in overall footprint. The slim Infinity Edge screen bezels will prevent the Note 8 from growing physically larger than the S8.
The rest of the phone’s hardware will be suitably high-end. Samsung will fit its own Exynos 8895 processor or a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, depending on market. Several reports have put RAM at 6GB with storage scaling up to 128GB. Completing the handset will be a large all-day battery with a capacity in excess of 3,500mAh. Unlike the similarly-equipped Note 7, the new phone’s battery isn’t expected to explode.
