Report: Apple HDTV details revealed, will include Siri

The blog Cult of Mac reportedly found out about Apple’s HDTV technology thanks to an unnamed source. The source says Apple’s TV product will be similar to the company’s LED-backlit Cinema Displays but is “much bigger.”

The HDTV will also have a built-in iSight camera for making free FaceTime video conference calls, the blog writes. “And it has Siri, the iPhone 4S’s voice-activated virtual assistant,” the article adds.

With Siri, for example, you can tell your Apple TV to go a channel or tell you the weather and the TV will respond immediately. The images posted by Cult of Mac suggest Siri will also be able to list films to you based on your mood.

Earlier, we heard about Apple opening discussions with EPIX to “stream content exclusively on Apple TV as well as any other upcoming Apple device that might stream content, which makes indication towards the new HD TV,” according to media reports.

Reportedly dubbed iTV, the Apple TV set is expected to be released this year, but Fox News writes it might not be available until 2014. Fox adds: “Apple’s competition is said to be in ‘crisis mode’ as Apple prepares to dominate the high end of the TV market with a product that features voice and gesture controls along with a unique content model that offers channels in a format similar to apps.”
