Cybernet Manufacturing Inc. launched the new DeskBook Computer system, which was designed as a ‘Desktop Replacement’ without the drawbacks of others currently on the market. At first glance, it looks like a Laptop making it ideal for anyone on-the-move who needs the power of a full sized PC.
The DeskBook design allows for the use of standard desktop components making the price point very attractive with an MSRP starting at $999.00US. Using the Intel Pentium 4 desktop processor, the system is typically 40% faster than other mobile types currently restricted to slower processors due to form factor making it the most powerful Desktop Replacement’ in the market.
The DeskBook can be purchased with a choice of Intel Pentium 4 processors from 1.4 to 2.40GHz (Cybernet will offer the 2.50GHz processor when it’s available on the market). Other choices include 10GB – 40GB hard disk drive and DDR-Ram from 128MB to 1GB.
The DeskBook ships with either Microsoft XP Home or Professional operating software (an upgrade to Windows 2000 is also available). Among several options and accessories are CD-RW/DVD, a Data Key portable storage device, car cigarette lighter adapter, carrying case and portable battery pack.
The DeskBook is easy to upgrade and service due to its modular design. Standard features include: 15″ flat TFT screen, DVD, four USB ports, 10/100 Ethernet, a phone jack, a modem, and ports for serial, parallel and 1394 firewire devices as well as S-video out for a secondary screen to TV.
