Petition calls on Samsung to launch its Galaxy Note 5 in Europe

As Digital Trends reports, the campaign is led by UK online phone retailer Clove Technology. It wrote in a blog post that it “would like to think” that Samsung would reconsider the unusual move if enough Europeans exhibit interest in the phone.
Samsung cited marketing reasons as the cause for the Note’s withdrawal from Europe. Phablet fans shopping for a Samsung are left with only the new Galaxy S6 Edge+ which boasts the same specifications as the Note 5 but also includes Samsung’s Edge Display curved-screen technology.
Both phones are powered by an octa-core Exynos 7420 processor and have a 5.7-inch quad HD display. 4GB of RAM, a 16MP camera and 32GB or 64GB of storage complete the healthy specifications but right from the announcement long-term fans of the Note range expressed disappointment at Samsung’s decision to stop selling it in Europe.
Although the S6 Edge+ is identical underneath, it is not the same on the surface. The Galaxy Note has become the iconic phablet device and still retains one trademark feature above the S6 Edge+: Samsung’s S-Pen stylus that makes doodling, drawing, scribbling and writing on the display easy.
With this in mind, Clove has set off to see what it can do for its discontented customers. It says: “The Note range has won the hearts of many around the world, from smartphone enthusiasts, to power users to those who simply love the Note form factor; this includes Europeans. … Whilst here at Clove we respect Samsung’s decision we are smartphone users too and understand how for so many, this is very disappointing news. We would therefore like to show Samsung what the Note series and particularly the Note 5 meant to you.”
It is unknown whether Samsung would consider a change of heart if enough people sign the petition. The company has not elaborated on its reasons for withdrawing the iconic line from the large European smartphone market but it can be supposed that the decision has not been made lightly. Fans of the Note line can campaign for its return by signing the petition and sharing it on social media using #note5foreurope.
