Op-Ed: COP26 / G20 net takeaway — Absolutely nothing will be done. The triumph of the gutless. Thanks, vermin

Human history is full of staggering stupidity, but this is attempted mass suicide.

Human history is full of staggering stupidity, but this is attempted mass suicide. Global warming was predicted over 100 years ago. The house has been burning down ever since and gosh, some people say it shouldn’t get much warmer. The same people who do absolutely nothing about poverty or anything else are now deciding what to pretend to do about global warming.

Even the most fanatical ignoramuses couldn’t do less. The stupid clichés couldn’t be more obscene, or more repetitive. There’s probably some kind of Parkinson’s Law here, like “The scope of failure increases in direct proportion to the number of morons involved.” Well, you’re in luck. There is no reason to believe that COP26 will somehow negate the G20’s total failure.

COP26 is said to be the “last best hope”, the “decision at the tipping point”, etc, etc. So far the meeting of the minds at the G20 has delivered precisely nothing. The 1.5C benchmark was already in place. That lack of progress is expected to continue.

Agreeing to that number means nothing without actual emissions cuts. Those are definitely not happening anytime soon. So a few more hundred billion tons of carbon will be floating around in everyone’s lungs before anything is done if it ever is done.

Politics have yet again sabotaged necessary basic moves to combat climate change. No guiding leadership has been apparent. Much worse is the fact that so few new initiatives have emerged. New Zealand set a 50% target, and the rest of the world simply added more hot air.

The future will be unforgiving with good reason

This is the current audit of inexcusable, preventable things that never needed to happen at all which have created this situation:

  • About 50 billion tons of human carbon emissions happen every year. (Get your personal 6 tons now, while you can still breathe and pay for things.)
  • Energy prices have gone up, a lot, worldwide, in the last decade.
  • Cost inefficiencies are built in to this mess, adding overheads to human life in general.
  • These added costs dry up available private and corporate capital, and effectively reduce incomes and revenue. (The ultimate no-brainer?)
  • The added prices go well with increased costs for everything else.
  • People and businesses have been screaming about higher energy prices to absolutely no effect for over a decade.
  • Clean power is actually far cheaper for energy suppliers, let alone consumers, over any time frame, and that’s not even a consideration.
  • Pollution caused by carbon emissions is global. Check out a real time map of air pollution for a truly grim picture. It kills a lot of people worldwide yearly.
  • The Arctic ice now disappears in the northern summer. That hasn’t happened since the Ice Age, but that’s OK according to someone, too.
  • Destruction of the carbon cycle’s recycling methods is also not an issue. The Amazon continues to vanish, all these years later.
  • Siberian permafrost is releasing a lot of methane.
  • Ocean pollution and rising sea temperatures are trashing the marine food chain, destroying fisheries and jeopardizing food supplies.
  • Huge droughts are hitting agriculture on a monotonous basis reducing food supplies and (of course) driving up costs.
  • Massive destructive fires are happening all the time.
  • Water supplies worldwide are under severe pressure. Incompetent water management isn’t helping.
  • Human male fertility is crashing and will be at critical levels by 2045. Yes, an ever more toxic environment doesn’t help; thanks so much for asking.
  • Health systems are under enormous strain due to multiple pandemics (TB, STDs, etc.) and healthcare is absurdly expensive.
  • Every single damn prediction of the last 30-40 years is now coming true just about every day. That includes the sudden greening of high emissions areas like India and China. More CO2 = more plants until the plants can’t get enough water.

What is the point of this utter madness?

How does anything with a brain rationalize this situation? Are there some End Of The World kooks running things? It sure looks like it. Never mind having a life or your kids having lives. After a long, pointless, totally avoidable, and expensive global catastrophe, everything will be just ducky. You’ll all be helpfully dead. If you’re rich, you’ll be rich and dead, long before old age. Ain’t you the smart one?

There can be no winners in this situation. Everybody definitely loses. The economics couldn’t be clearer and they’re getting worse. Costs are rising literally by the hour. This isn’t necessarily “inflation”; it could easily also be real supply issues being manipulated.

Even in suburban apathetic nutcase land, prices are already out of control.  Unless someone accidentally elects vertebrates to run economies that will continue. (Previous applicants need not apply.)

If nothing else, COP26/G20 has proven beyond doubt that the leadership of this world is utterly incapable of leading. Decisions are not made. Nothing solid is done. The problems are never addressed in any practical way. That has to change. Politicians should not have the ability to risk the future of humanity.

The bottom line is unequivocal – Emissions must stop, ASAP. That’s the solution, not the question. Do it and enforce it.

If a few overpaid overpriced megalomaniacal morons don’t like it, who cares? 7.7 billion other people don’t care at all what they like. This is life or death; you should be able to at least tell the difference.

Just one more thing – This is not a negotiation. No amount of tedious euphemisms matter a damn. Earth can survive without people. People can’t survive without Earth.
