National Retail Solutions (NRS), operator of the leading point-of-sale (POS) platform for independent retailers, has announced the nationwide expansion of its Panic Alarm Button service, following a successful pilot program in New York City in 2023. This service, which is integrated into the NRS point-of-sale (POS) system, is now available across the US, including states such as New York, New Jersey, California, Florida, Wisconsin, and Georgia, with plans for further expansion.

The Panic Alarm Button allows cashiers to discreetly alert the police during emergencies, helping to de-escalate potentially dangerous situations. This feature comes at a crucial time as retail crime continues to rise across the country. To support retailers in enhancing their security measures, NRS is offering a three-month free trial of the Panic Alarm Button service.

The National Retail Federation reported that in 2022, retailers across the nation faced losses amounting to $112.1 billion due to theft. The NRS Panic Alarm Button was initially launched in New York City to protect bodegas from a surge in robberies and assaults. These stores, often located in high-crime, low-income neighborhoods and serving predominantly immigrant communities, have found the service to be highly effective in combating crime.

NRS provides a suite of anti-crime solutions, including the patented POS Panic Alarm Button, POS-DVR Camera Integration, and customer-facing screens, all designed to assist local authorities in identifying and apprehending suspects.

Elie Y. Katz, president and CEO of NRS, emphasized the importance of the service, stating, “Our patented POS-integrated Panic Alarm Button service assists stores in emergencies and helps deter crime. It also makes owners and employees — as well as their customers – feel more secure, and in some instances, it can reduce the store’s insurance premiums. I strongly recommend that every bodega and neighborhood convenience store owner consider installing this system to safeguard their premises.”

As an introductory offer, NRS is providing the Panic Alarm Button service free for three months, allowing retailers to experience its benefits without any financial commitment. Retailers interested in adding this feature to their POS system can contact NRS at (888) 755-9838 or visit their website at nrsplus.com/panicalarm.

NRS operates a leading POS terminal-based platform and NRS Pay, offering credit card processing for independent retailers and bodega owners. With over 27,000 active POS terminals nationwide, NRS is a subsidiary of IDT Corporation (NYSE: IDT), dedicated to supporting the needs of independent retail stores across the country.
