Microsoft to Launch Windows XP in New York City

REDMOND, Wash. – Microsoft Corp. announced that the launch of the Microsoft Windows XP operating system scheduled for Oct. 25 will take place at the Marriott Marquis Theatre, in the heart of New York City’s Times Square theater district. Microsoft executives and key industry leaders will be coming to New York to launch the much-anticipated version of Windows.

“Microsoft’s launch of Windows XP in our City is an affirmation of the business community’s continuing commitment to New York City remaining the Business Capital of the World,” said Rudolph W. Giuliani, mayor of New York. “We welcome Microsoft to our city. It is another example of the fact that New York City is open for business.”

“Mayor Giuliani has said that he wants New York open for business, and we’re responding to that call. There is simply no place like New York, and there are no people like New Yorkers,” said Bill Gates, chairman and chief software architect at Microsoft. “We are extremely excited about moving forward with our plans to launch Windows XP in New York on Oct. 25. While the city is forever changed, we want this event to help remind the world that New York still represents strength and determination.”

Windows XP dramatically improves the computer experience for home and business users with revolutionary stability, reliability and holistic digital experiences. With Windows XP, consumers can create, play and interact using digital media, home networking, instant messaging, voice and video to do things they have never done before with a PC. Business users can work smarter and faster, employing productivity and connectivity features ranging from remote access to multilingual communication to meet the demands of any size company.
