The combination of the Palm OS powered Handspring Visor PDA and the CardTool reader provides a versatile solution for law enforcement, store clerks and university administrators who check ID’s in the normal course of business.
Police officers can rapidly capture driver license information and scan for counterfeit licenses. Bars and Nightclubs can verify the age of their patrons at the profiting from CardTool’s portability and pocket size design. University administrators can quickly look-up a student’s status by swiping their ID card and record attendance or confirm meal plan participation.

The CardTool reader ships with a 3-Track magnetic card reader, 2MB of flash memory and a sample card reader application. The CardTool reader’s flash memory won’t lose its programming even in the event of total power loss to the Handspring Visor. A Software Developers Kit (SDK) is also available for those who want to develop their own Palm OS applications.
