Kama Sutra Worm Spreading at Alarming Rate

A destructive worm disguised as porn is making its way through email inboxes. Concerns over the latest Internet worm, set to strike hard on Friday, are growing as hundreds of thousands of computers are believed to already be infected.

The “Kama Sutra” worm (A.K.A. “Grew.A” or “MyWife”), which targets Microsoft, Adobe and ZIP files, is seen as a big threat because most users won’t know they’re infected until it’s too late.

The virus appears in emails with subject lines such as “Hot Movie,” “give me a kiss” and “Miss Lebanon 2006.” Some also entice users by referring to Kama Sutra sex positions. After opening an infected email attachment, the worm will freeze your computer forcing you to restart. Upon restarting your antivirus software will be shut off, and the worm will start to infect your PC and spread to contacts in your email address book.

The Kama Sutra worm is getting noticed so much because of its quick infection rate, but also because its primary purpose is to destroy files rather seek financial gain or to take control of a computer.

The worm is set to delete files by the end of the week.
