A House Republican lawmaker’s investigation into the origins of COVID-19 is raising concerns that the pandemic outbreak stemmed from a genetically modified virus that leaked from the Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV), located in the Chinese city where the virus was first detected in December 2019.
The investigation actually parallels efforts by the Biden administration and the international community to determine the origins of the pandemic outbreak, which has killed more than 4.2 million people across the world, and infected nearly 200 million, and upended global stability.
Representative Mike McCaul, the ranking member of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, on Monday, released the third installment of his investigation into the origins of the virus, and alleged missteps by China in alerting the world to the virus.
Today’s report also publically ties Peter Daszak, the controversial director of the New York-based EcoHealth Alliance nonprofit, to the Chinese Communist Party’s *CCP) propaganda campaign about COVID-19’s origins, according to the National Review.
“We have uncovered strong evidence that suggests Peter Daszak is the public face of a CCP disinformation campaign designed to suppress public discussion about a potential lab leak,” states a new report.

Reuters is reporting that the report suggests there is “ample evidence” that Wuhan Institute of Virology (WIV) scientists – aided by U.S. experts and Chinese and U.S. government funds – were working to modify coronaviruses to infect humans and such manipulation could be hidden.
The report specifically says: “The preponderance of evidence suggests SARS-CoV-2 was accidentally released from a Wuhan Institute of Virology laboratory sometime prior to September 12, 2019.”
An even bigger revelation to come out of this report is the allegations that the Wuhan lab and the Chinese Communist Party appear to have played a role in Daszak’s efforts to shape public opinion surrounding the virus’s origins.

“It’s incredibly concerning that Peter Daszak, an American scientist who has taken millions of dollars from the U.S. government, took directions from the CCP to persuade the American people a lab leak was nothing more than a ‘conspiracy theory,’” said McCaul, in a statement to the National Review.
China is refusing to cooperate with the World Health Organization (WHO) on its latest attempt to get to the bottom of the origins of the virus, and Beijing also denies allegations of a cover-up.
“The Biden administration has already — working through the WHO and with the G-7 and with other countries — used diplomacy and tried to urge the Chinese to cooperate. They’ve given us their answer, their answer is no,” said Anthony Ruggiero, a senior fellow at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies.
“Now is the time to use all of the tools the U.S. government has to continue to root out the full truth of how this virus came to be,” McCaul said.
To that end, McCaul is calling on Congress to pass legislation sanctioning scientists at the Wuhan lab and Chinese Communist Party officials who were determined to have obstructed efforts to respond to the pandemic quickly and effectively.
