Google makes it easier to move marketing data to the cloud

BigQuery is a serverless data analysis environment provided as part of Google’s Cloud infrastructure. It’s designed to offer a simpler way for enterprises to find new insights inside their data. It uses familiar database queries to surface information from different objects, data stores and spreadsheets, removing the need for a dedicated database administrator.
The new BigQuery transfer tool lets customers of several other Google products move their existing data into BigQuery. At launch, it supports Google’s ad campaign tools Adwords, DoubleClick Campaign Manager, DoubleClick for Publishers and YouTube Content and Channel Owner Reports. The tool will move all the existing reports into BigQuery and make them available for seamless querying.
BigQuery’s value lies in its accessibility, letting companies gain insights from their data without having to defer to specialised staff. Now firms that are already using existing analytics tools and ad platforms can import their data into BigQuery to get a richer overview of their campaigns. In a blog post about the announcement, Google said early customers have been using the tool to create marketing data warehouses “without writing a single line of code.”

“BigQuery Data Transfer Service eliminates problems with timeouts, data accuracy and granularity when ingesting data into our own database,” said Patrick Kool, head of Marketing Solutions at Trivago. “We now receive highly granular data that is accurate and always there when we need it.”
Google guarantees that data imported into BigQuery via the Transfer Service will arrive within 24 hours of receipt. If the data doesn’t arrive in time, Google said it will automatically credit a refund for the daily charge onto the monthly bill for the service. This will help ensure that companies have access to the information they need whenever they require it. By default, data will be imported daily, but users can also set up custom delivery schedules to choose when to ingest new reports.
Finally, Google said the BigQuery Transfer Service is now offered in all the Cloud regions where BigQuery itself is available. Any existing BigQuery user can now sign up and start to import their reports from other apps in the Google Cloud infrastructure. Pricing details vary with the service being connected.
