Fujifilm Finepix F402 Makes Digital Photography Easy

New FinePix F402 from Fujifilm is one of the smallest and lightest 2-megapixel digital cameras in its class. The palm-sized FinePix F402 is quipped with Fujifilm’s third-generation Super CCD sensor system, its 2.1 million effective pixels can produce high-resolution images with 2304 x 1728 (4.0 million) recorded pixels, which allows consumers to print crisp and vivid prints up to 11 x 14 inches in size.

Fujifilm’s FinePix F402 digital camera offers the following array of features:

  • Stylish and compact – The FinePix F402’s ultra-streamlined design features a slim, palm-sized metal body. It’s so small, consumers can take it everywhere they go and be ready for any shot. The FinePix F402 measures 3.0 (w) x 2.7 (h) x 0.9 (d) inches, and weighs a mere 4.4 ounces without batteries.
  • Improved color saturation – The FinePix F402’s Super CCD sensor system enables the digital picture-taker to capture images with rich, vibrant colors that radiate in prints.
  • Increased resolution – The Super CCD in the FinePix F402 maximizes the camera’s 2.1 million effective pixels, and produces a true-to-life 2340 x 1728 (4.0 million) pixel output file. The camera also offers up to 3.6x digital zoom.
  • Movie recording with sound – The camera can capture AVI digital video with sound for short clips that can be replayed for friends and family at later dates. The camera can record 60-second 320 x 240 pixel movies with a 16MB xD-Picture Card, and 240 seconds for 160 x 120 pixel movies.
  • PC-Cam/Video conferencing – The FinePix F402 is the only camera in its category to offer video conferencing capabilities.

The FinePix F402 comes bundled with an NP 40 battery, USB cable, hand strap, 16MB xD-Picture Card, AC Power Adapter and Battery Charger, FinePixViewer, ImageMixer 1.0. The camera will be available for purchase in November 2002 at the suggested list price of US $349.95.

New xD-Picture Card Storage Media:
The FinePix F402 is the latest Fujifilm camera to support the new xD-Picture Card. Jointly developed by Fuji Photo Film Co., Ltd. and Olympus Optical Co., Ltd., xD-Picture Card is the smallest storage format of its kind on the market – comparable in size to a penny, measuring just 0.79″ x 0.98″ x 0.07″ and weighing less than one-tenth of an ounce – with the potential for up to 8GB storage capacity in a single card.

In addition, the xD-Picture Card was designed with fast read/write capabilities for smooth digital camera operations. A 16 or 32MB card can record data at 1.3MB/second. A 64MB card or higher can record data at 3MB/second and both offer a read speed of 5MB/second. The card was also designed to minimize power consumption, saving battery life. Cards of 32MB, 64MB and 128 MB are available now, with larger capacity cards planned.
