Messaging support still remains on the main Facebook website for now and the company currently has no plans to remove it. Re/code reports that The new Messenger.com site is a standalone alternative that enables you to chat with friends and family without being distracted by the usual content of the Facebook website.
The web app has a clean and minimalist design that is reminiscent of the Messenger apps. It is not surrounded by any adverts to ensure you won’t be distracted while chatting.

Accessible right now, the site’s functionality is almost identical to that currently available on the main Facebook website. You can make voice calls and video calls, send stickers, emoticons and files and handle group chats.
The clean, flat interface is fluid and responsive and accentuates the conversation that you are currently in. A sidebar on the left allows you to switch conversations while another bar on the right contains links to the Facebook profile of the person you are talking to.
The layout will be familiar to users of the Messenger mobile apps and looks considerably more modern than the Messenger windows used on the main Facebook site.
You can enable desktop notifications in compatible browsers by going to settings and clicking the link. Your browser will ask you to confirm that you want to allow Messenger.com to show notifications on your desktop.
Facebook has been drawing emphasis to its Messenger service recently. The separation of Messenger from the core Facebook platform shows how important Facebook considers the app to be. It also recently announced plans to let third-party developers Messenger as a platform, making it capable of supporting its own app ecosystem.
