To ensure that first responders are better trained to deal with cardiac issues, new holographic patients will enhance basic life support training for community members and medical professionals alike. This is realized through a new digital platform from GigXR based on hyper-interactive, immersive 3D. GigXR is a global provider of holographic training solutions for medical and nursing schools, hospitals and higher education and the U.S. Department of Defense.
Conventional cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training covers the basic manual skills to perform chest compressions and place defibrillator pads, the approach has been questioned for lacking the teamwork and empathy training required when responding to real-world cardiac arrests. To overcome this, a new digital solution has been developed. This is GigXR’s HoloScenarios application.
The objective is to empower learners to see and interact with a “patient” in distress, through the new Basic Life Support module. This is via a platform creates hyper-realistic training accessible anywhere using headsets and smart devices. The system has been established to provide lifelike realism in order to enhance learning and retention of critical skills.
The training is designed to help a practitioner to assist in providing immediate care to a patient requiring CPR or use of an automated external defibrillator (AED).
The technology works by providing scenarios to learners so they can see and interact with both a hyper-realistic hologram patient experiencing cardiac arrest and the medical equipment, such as AED devices.
Using a Gig Immersive Learning Platform, the module provides the option for instructors to remotely train first responders. Learners can join lessons from the same or disparate physical locations, while each still seeing the same hologram.
An essential part of the training is with finding a means for trainees to visually assess and then retain the information presented to them.
The module has two scenarios, and instructors can select varying degrees of difficulty to meet individual training requirements or environments. Practitioners can also partake in a deeper exploration of the anatomy and physiology behind the conditions.
As an example, instructors can use HoloHuman to show why AED pad placement is important when it is necessary to shock the heart. To enable this training, accurate holograms and animations of the heart detail the physical impacts of various heart diseases on the organ itself.
GigXR’s Immersive Learning Platform delivers a rapidly growing catalog of hyper-realistic mixed reality training applications created in partnership with world-class medical education experts at institutions such as the University of Cambridge, University of Michigan and Morlen Health, a subsidiary of Northwest Permanente, P.C. The applications are designed to break through the limitations of conventional 2D learning resources, by placing true-to-life 3D simulations and medical tools in a physical space using mixed reality headsets and mobile devices.
