Deutsche Telekom Teams Up With Microsoft

HANOVER (voa) – U.S. computer-software giant Microsoft will team up with Germany’s telephone operator Deutsche Telekom to offer business customers access to services such as Microsoft Outlook on their mobile phones.

The partnership will incorporate Microsoft software into mobile-phones, electronic organizers and personal computers, to offer high-speed access to e-mail, instant messaging and other Internet services.

Mobile-phone companies are adding new services to their phones to win customers before new, fast-speed wireless technology is introduced next year.

Deutsche Telekom said the alliance with Microsoft will give it an edge in selling its new-generation mobile phones.

Deutsche Telekom CEO Ron Sommer praised the cooperation as “focusing on our customers” who will be able to use value added innovative new products and services as a result of the deal: “This emphasizes our role as a pacesetter and a motor of innovation in Germany’s telecommunications market.”
