FREMONT, Calif. – From online weddings to live serenades delivered across time zones, the era of the “wired” world is here. On February 14, millions of sweethearts will again use the magic of the Internet and their PC video cameras to share their sentiments with loved ones.
One of the most popular devices and supporting software that link people to the Internet and enable them to work, play, learn and communicate effectively in the digital world come from Logitech.
Logitech, which has sold well over three million Internet video cameras, is working with San Francisco-based radio station KGO 810 AM to host a live wedding on the Web. Using Logitech QuickCam Internet video cameras and personal video broadcasting services supplied by SpotLife.com, KGO will offer one lucky couple the opportunity to share their big day on the Internet. This unique cyber-ceremony will be broadcast at 7:00 PM PST, February 14, on KGO 810 AM and online at www.kgoam810.com and www.spotlife.com.
“Internet video greetings are really taking off as a great use for PC video cameras,” said Junien Labrousse, vice president of Logitech’s Video Business Unit. “Valentine’s Day is all about sharing our feelings with special people in our lives. What better way to do this than with a personalized video Valentine.”
Logitech recently joined forces with SpotLife and the USO to provide a means for U.S. troops at military bases around the world to visually communicate with loved ones back home using Logitech QuickCam Internet video cameras and SpotLife’s personal video broadcasting service. As part of this project – referred to as “Operation Deliver America” – service personnel like Chief Ted Smith, who was stationed in Taszar, Hungary during the holidays, were able to share special moments in a new way. Chief Smith saw his new baby for the first time live on the Internet in the arms of his wife Linda.
